Redbay - Persea borbonia 5 gallon

An evergreen tree to 70 ft., with a trunk diamter of 1-3 feet. The stout erect branches form a dense symmetrical head. Leaves are bright green, aromatic, elliptic-oblong, margin entire, lustrous above and glaucous below. The bark is reddish brown to grayish brown, with deep fissures and scaly and broad ridges. The fruit is a blue to black 1/2 inch long, globose or obovoid drupe that is eaten by birds. Native from North Carolina to Florida and Texas.
