Creeping or floating perennial wetland plant. Leaf blades are oblong, 1/2-2 inches long and glossy. Yellow flowers with five petals bloom from April to September. Inhabits ponds, lakes, swamps, ditches, and rivers. Native to North, Central, and South America, and the West Indies.
